About Us
Agriculture is the backbone of Indian Economy. There is need for improving the quality, productivity and volume of production in this sector. This can be accomplished through effective agricultural education, research, adoption of modern technology and extension. The need of the hour is qualified, motivated personnel to develop and transfer more productive technologies from lab to land.
The cost of education in India is mounting each year and agricultural education is no exception. Vast majority of the talented youth, especially from rural areas, who want to pursue agricultural education at college level, find it difficult to meet the minimum financial requirements. It has been observed that about 20% of the meritorious students who get admission to agricultural colleges are often forced to discontinue their studies for want of adequate financial resources. We should not let this happen! Although there are some government scholarships, these are very few and inadequate. There is need for additional financial resources to support the deserving students.
A motivated group of alumni of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, established “Krishi Vidya Nirantara” (KVN) for the promotion of agriculture in general and student education in particular. KVN is a non-profit educational trust registered under Trusts Act of 1968 on 16th August 2005.
